The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is one branch of a larger family tree that includes the Church of Christ and the Christian Church (independent). All three groups trace their start to the early 1800's in what was then the western frontier of a young democracy known as the United States of America.
A brief video summarizes who we are, where we got started and where we may be heading.
The roughly 700,000 member denomination is organized into regions.
We are part of the Christian Church in Mid-America which takes in most of Missouri and a part of southwestern Illinois.
This region is divided into four areas and the site you are on is operated by the Northwest Area - comprised of 15 counties - mostly north of Interstate 70 and mostly west of US 65.
Mostly rural, northwest Missouri is home to some of the richest farmland in the U.S. and agriculture dominates the economy and the character of life in these rolling hills and flat plains. Changes - like biotech industries, wind generated electricity, and the arrival of immigrants from around the world - are creating opportunities for churches of any or no denomination to work better togeher and Disciples are stepping up to provide servant-leadership for that.
We invite you to visit one of the 66 Disciples of Christ congregations in NW Missouri.
Information is updated bi-monthly. For a complete list of congregations and their contact information, click here.
Disciples visiting or passing through NW Missouri who want to find a congregation for worship may contact the NW Area office at 816.632.2237 or 816.617.7020 on weekends and evenings for information to assist you in your travels.
